Longhair Guinea Pigs - Peruvians, Texels, Silkies,
Coronets, and Satin
Cavy breeds. Shorthair Guinea pigs - Americans only.
January 8, 2012
We are located in the
beautiful Hill Country southwest of Austin, Texas. In the
Cavy (guinea pig) part of my world, I have joined forces with Jonathan Conrad
and Kim Bigham. We currently raise top show quality cavies in
the following breeds:
Peruvians, Texels, Silkies, Coronets, Satin Peruvians, and Satin
Silkies and Americans.
In the straight long hairs
(Silkies, Peruvians and Coronets) we have roans, selfs, agoutis,
brokens. We have Himalayans in Peruvians and Silkies only. Texels mostly in broken.
We have Black
Americans, and Silver Solid and Golden Solid, some Satin, now Dalmations and
reds.
I had the thought the other
day that cavies are like little furry, funny dolls. Each
one so cute with so much personality. Cavies just blow me
away with how precious they all are.
I have had the good fortune
in the past few years to sell my young cavy stock to people who were
interested in showing. So many of them have won many
awards. I'm very proud of my breeding stock. They
have come from all over the US and also from Canada. When I
manage to make a show, I can usually win awards myself, even...
LOL.
Our joined caviary is under the name, CAVIES, INC.
!! Please look for us on FACEBOOK!
We'd love for you to 'like' us!!! You will find pics of
sale pigs (look in the 'FOR SALE' album) and more pics of our current and past winners there.

SHOWS:
ALSO, if you are interested
in showing or attending shows, go to the LoneStar Cavy Club
website. We are planning to have shows in the Austin Area this
year (hopefully)!!

Rainbows, some Opalines, Lutinos and various green and blue
combinations. I am selling young birds for $40 to $100
and also young breeding pairs for sale as well ($150 a pair).

Angelhair logo compliments
of Maris in the Philippines - isn't this cute? Well, we had
a successful exportation of curly haired piggies to Maris in the
Philippines!! Not for the faint of heart
though. These little guys were on 4 different flights with
a layover in Honolulu for 24 hours! It was THREE FULL DAYS
of traveling, but, they made it fine! All I can say is THANK THE
LORD they made it in good shape. Now, I hear they are
breeding and producing some lovely offspring, so, this is great news
and CONGRATULATIONS MARIS!!
Angelhair Caviary Guinea
Pig Care Pointers
1. Cavies need
clean water, hay (Coastal and Timothy are good, not alfalfa) and feed
(Mazuri, Lab Diet, and Oxbow are good brands) every day.
Vitamin C is a must, either in the feed or added to the water. I
use Puritan Pride crystal vitamin C. 1/2 tsp per gallon of
water.
2. Add fruit and veggies every day if possible. Ones that
are not the best: iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, eggplant, avocado,
potatoes, peppers (bell peppers are good though))
3. If they get diarrhea, give them Kaopectate by dropper several
times daily until cleared up. Don't let diarrhea go on very
long as it will be fatal. Causes typically are too much
lettuce, contaminated water or bedding.
4. Don't breed cavies unless you are prepared to lose your
pet. Breeding is not suggested unless you are breeding to
improve the different breeds and you are showing with a registered
caviary name with ACBA.
5. Two pigs need cages of at least 10 square feet if
possible. Bring them out daily to have an exercise period running
around - they love to have freedom to play and run.
6. Check for mats in their hair often - you can trim the hair if
you are not planning to show your pet. Trim their nails when
needed - I like cat nail clippers. Be VERY careful when
trimming nails - just trim off the sharp ends to be safe.
7. If a cavy stops eating or their eyes get crusted and are not
bright and wide, your cavy is ILL. You can try giving them
electrolyte water with a dropper to get their appetite back, and/or
take them to a vet that specializes in small animals, particularly
guinea pigs if possible.
8. For lots of cavy care tips and fun cage building, go to www.CavyCages.com and, I
just heard about a new book which has tons of good info if you want to
show, or just raise a happy pet. Go to:
Cavy
Savvy: Care Guide and Activity Book
9.. I'll continue to add pointers as I think of them!

PURCHASE POINTERS:
1. We reserve the
right to decline sales for any reason.
2. Please bring a suitable carrier (can be a box of a nice size)
when collecting cavies.
3. We prefer that cavies not be kept alone. They are herd
animals. So, unless you already have a cavy, you must
buy two. Besides, if you don't already know, cavies are
like chocolates... you can't have just one.
4. Not recommended for young children. Children under
7 must be supervised when handling cavies. They often cannot
survive a fall. They are sweet, trusting little animals and
deserve to be handled with care.
5. I only sell breeding pairs (M and F) to serious minded homes.
6. Cash Only - someone
recently spoiled it for everyone. :-(
7. No refunds for any reason. All cavies leaving my caviary
are in excellent health. And, if you change your mind about
shipping, no refunds. This process of picture taking and emailing
takes up a lot of time.
8. I will take any cavy back for any reason but you must bring
their cage, etc..
9. Thank you for providing safe happy homes for my cavies - they
will give you many years of enjoyment and happiness. :-)
